Admission Process
For University of Kashmir admission, all applicants are invited on the basis of eligibility and marks scored in their qualifying degree, entrance examination or admission tests (written and practical). Candidates need to score above a specified mark in these exams to get admitted to a particular course or discipline.
The entrance exams include JEE Main (Joint Entrance Exam), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), UGAT (Under Graduate Aptitude Test), KUET (Kashmir University Entrance Test), GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) etc.
- For the B.Tech course, admission is based on the marks obtained in JEE Mains.
- Admission to the B.Sc programme is based on the performance in Entrance Test conducted by the university.
- For the M.Tech course, admission is based on the marks scored in GATE .
- For the MBA, MBA (Finance Management) and MTTM courses, admission is based on the performance in the CMAT Exam.
- For the MBA (BBA-MBA) programme, admission is based on the performance in the UGAT exam conducted by the university.
- For the PhD and M.Phil admissions, candidates need to sit for an entrance exam conducted by the university followed by a personal interview.
- For the MA in Mass Communication & Journalism, MSW, M.Sc. in Biotechnology, M.P.Ed and MCME courses, admission is based on the performance in KUET.
- For the M.Pharm course, admission is based on the marks obtained in GPAT.

Results and Cut-off
Kashmir University declares the cut-off list for its several courses and degrees once Kashmir University results of their respective entrance examinations are calculated. The candidates need to obtain a score which is equal to or more than the cut-off mark specified by the university to get admitted to their desired courses.
For example, B.Tech aspirants need to clear the JEE Mains cut off, M.Tech candidates need to clear the GATE cut-offs, MBA candidates need to cross the CMAT or UGAT cut-offs, MA and M.Sc candidates need to pass the KUET cut-offs and M.Pharm students get admitted on clearing the GPAT cut-offs. The cut-offs are relaxed for reserved candidates like SCs, STs and OBCs.

Scholarships
The scholarship and assistantship programmes offered by Kashmir University to its students include the following:
- Merit Scholarship: The Merit scholarship is awarded based on the marks obtained by candidates in their last qualifying exams or entrance exam score. The scholarship is offered to the top two merit holders only.
- Research Scholarship: Each Research Centre has four scholarships that are offered for carrying out research programmes leading to the honour of PhD or M.phil degree. Along with this, it also payable every year for meeting necessary expenses.
- Students Aid: Kashmir University also runs a scholarship scheme called ‘Students Aid’, under which financial aid is extended to deserving students, especially meritorious candidates who belong to poor economic backgrounds. The Alumni Association of Kashmir University also offers financial support to students from financially challenged families with preference being given to orphan candidates.
Campus Facilities
Kashmir University campus has a Library, which keeps a rich collection of over 6,00,000 books and volumes. The Allama Iqbal Library keeps a special collection of scholastic documents for visually impaired students, which includes DVDs/CDs, Braille books and DAISY-Digital Talking Books.
Through the aid of the UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, students can now get access to around 8,000 online journals in Social Science, Science and Humanities. The university provides hostel or lodging provisions for both boys and girls.
